The Simpsons have paid tribute to David Bowie and Alan Rickman in a brilliant way
January 15, 2016
The Simpsons have paid tribute to the late Alan Rickman and David Bowie – and it might just be the greatest tribute to the pair yet.
The clip, a major celebration of British culture, is taken from a February 2013 episode called Love Is a Many Splintered Thing.
It sends up both Love Actually and Harry Potter, two of Rickman’s most iconic films, as Homer and co begin watching a film called Love Indubitably in a bid to understand their other halves.

The clip also features a British Prime Minister, voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, declaring his love for secretary Eliza Commonbottom – before the strains of Bowie’s All The Young Dudes are heard to ring out.
It’s at this point that Professor Snape inexplicably enters the fray, and delivers a moving speech about the nature of love.
‘Love is more powerful than all my magic,’ he says – moments before Isaac Newton, Winston Churchill, William Shakespeare and Sherlock perform the Full Monty.
Oh, and the whole thing is topped off with a breakdancing Alfred Hitchcock emerging from the Tardis.
While true Simpsons fans might know this episode well, the official Twitter feed posted out the clip on Thursday as a special nod to the pair.
A (brief) tribute by Benedict Cumberbatch to the great Alan Rickman.
The tribute comes after the deaths of the music icon and beloved actor earlier this week.
Both died aged 69 after a battle with cancer.
